LimeWire Version 4.9 (same problem with 4.8.1)

New or Expienced? mid range I'd guess. Although I havent really looked at the settings or anything...

OK like I said the internet is fine and fast and everything UNTIL I launch Limewire. Then every website or page i try and go to just times out. Limewire works but my browser just stops. Sometimes if I keep hitting refresh it will work but thats not often. After I have quit limewire, it all works again. My firewall has accepted it so i dont think its anything to do with that tho i could try turning it of i suppose.

Any ideas?

When running in UPnP mode I sometimes have problems with Internet speed.Solution to that is port forward manual mode.I do not think that is your problem I think you need to limit your UL bandwidth to 10 or less. You may have to limit you DL bandwidth also. do the speed test below both with LW running and LW off.

im from the UK and i didnt know what was nearer but I choose it from Washington...

LIMEWIRE OFF

DOWNLOAD SPEED: 984
UPLOAD SPEED: 229

LIMEWIRE ON:
930
205

i tried it a few times and it varied tho so its not really accurate. most of the time its about the same. LW seems to be going sooooo slow right now.

EDIT: i dont know if this has anything to do with it but i have also have got this java error twice now...pretty big but basically..

Internal Error:
"java.lang.runtine exception: java.io.IException. an operation was attempted on sumthing that is not a socket blahblahblah...."

anyway i just did that UK one...

LIMEWIRE OFF:

IMAGE:
1788 Kb

TEXT:
1204 Kb

IMAGE + TEXT:
3224 Kb

LIMEWIRE ON:

IMAGE RESULT:
966 Kb

OK it is showing that you still have allot of bandwidth with LimeWire running still 1.G I am thinking if you look at task manager IE press and hold Ctrl+Alt then push delete. Your CPU usage is going to be near 100% which is pointing to a java issue try doing the java fixes in the link below and see if that helps.

you know I just checked, and with limewire off my cpu usage is almost nothing but with it on it can go right up to like 90% depending on whats downloading (I think).

However I tried those fixes (the first two anyway) and downloaded and installed java 1.5 and they didnt make a difference.

Im also getting some 'disk problem' messages in the download window. I dunno, but this 4.9.9 version seems worse than the previous version.
