Connection problem at work - only just started

Hi guys

Recently we had all our printers re-configured at work. Before they did that Limewire was running with no problems at all. Now I can't connect.

I seem to have tried everything posted on here and nothing has worked.

Can anyone shed any light or help, I think they chaged out IP address if thats any help

hi kookiethekat

It could be your work has now blocked P2P, you could ask your admin if that's the case, or try another couple of progs just to test it out www.winmx.com is a good one for testing. If It can't get connected then usually your blocked

I tried it on a couple of work computers Changing ports exct but found my work was now blocking all P2P networking to save their bandwith

Thanks, no winmx doesn't work either. Can't believe they messed up my limewire - agghhhhh.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I'm assuming there is no way to overide what they have done?

Cheers

Hi kookiethekat

Thanks for the reply to let us know, but sorry looks like their blocking All P2P programs, The only way to get past it, is if you're in with the Admin person, to find out which port to use, but don't think they would tell you, could cost them their job.

If I can get the port off them what would I need to do with it?

Is there much chance of me guessing it?

Thanks for all your help

On another note, I just tried this

This simple test is for port 6346. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? If you can't get the page loaded then port 6346 is blocked.

When I do this it comes up your test worked. Does that mean it isn't a port problem?

Hi kookiethekat

If you got that then it does mean the port is open for limewire to work, now we have to figure out why yours isn't

Could you supply a bit of info

Computer setup (ie windows, linux what ver)
What modem (ie make, model)
Make and model of your Router

Hiya, I'll try am, only slightly up on these things

Computer setup (ie windows, linux what ver) - Windows XP Pro version 2001 service pack 1

What modem (ie make, model) - No idea on this one, could you let me know how to find out (we have a LAN connection to the internet)

Make and model of your Router - Again no idea, not even sure what a router is, can you let me know how to find out.

Thanks so much for this
