Connection error during LW start Recently when I try to run LimeWire (it used to work a week ago!), it shows the splash screen but then a dialoge pops up saying: "LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking LimeWire's access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow LimeWire access to the internet and restart LimeWire." I have removed LimeWire (and javaw) from my Windows XP Home Firewall exception list (so it would ask me again) and have added the ports to the list (as LW suggests). I have also reinstalled (over top of the old one) and also uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing.... also, I dont get a prompt to allow javaw to access the net... I know JAVA and have the SDK, so i know i have it. And also, if i need to change the ports, how can i do that w/out opening LW? |
The link below will assist you in port forwarding. Have you checked with your ISP to see if thew have started blocking P2P networks. http://www.portforward.com/ |
The thing is, OTHER P2P Gnutella Clients (such as Phex) work fine, and Phex uses the exact same port! It also uses javaw, so i really dont know what the problem is! |
Check out the link below it might help ther are refrences in there about diffrent versions of Java. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=45223 |
hummm....... I have the latest JDK.... and had it BEFORE i first installed LW.... but lately, it just stopped working? This really makes no sence at all...... |
I restarted my computer, reinstalled... works fine..... Windows is just wierd..... wish I knew what caused it..... |
