Default Starts to connect, then uses 100% system resources

Whenever I try to start LimeWire the program window pops up and then the whole computer kind of freezes up. The odd thing is, LimeWire worked fine on my old PII 350 mhz (win98). The specs of my new computer that may or may not be pertinent:
A64 3700 + SD core
2 x 1 gb OCZ 3200 Plat. RAM
Win XP Pro

Everything is the same except for the computer. I don't get it. I downloaded Shareaza and Ares to see if it was some kind of virus exploiting P2P programs, but both those work fine (unfortunately they suck).
