hahaha not sure why you posted to a 5 year old thread. Anyway, I've split it & moved your post to where it should be. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

LOTR, I havse tried everything possible (I think). I have disabled windows firewall, on my router allowed port 6346 as a virtual server to always be open, r an the test and it said "your test worked", went to limewire tools option advance. firewall and placed all those diffrent listing ports with both UPnP and manual port forwarding (6346)selected, called cox and they said my service does not block 6346 Deleted and reinstall lime wire several times Delete limewire folder Called D-link about the router 614+ and they said that there use to be a force IP tab in the option>firewall that worked but that doesnt exist in 4.9.30. I have a P4 1.3 512 ram Win XP sp2 4 gigs of space left Cable connection at home windows firewall disabled avast antivirus program |

I can see 2 issues here. For a start Cox is known to filter p2p users despite what they say. From memory though, they don't necessarily apply it to everyone. ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire The D-Link routers don't use UPnP & thus you should manually port forward your DI-Link. Instructions here: http://www.portforward.com/dlink/di-614+.htm BTW you'd need to set up a static ip 1st, that's most important. Then forward a port. Then last step as you said is to change the settings in LW from UPnP to manual port forward. You'll find it under LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls. Then change it to manual PF & tick apply. Then try connecting again, go to menu bar, File>Connect & give it plenty of time to try to connect. Oh I just realised you've already done that. Double-check all your settings. Also it's probably best if you do separate port forwardings for each of UDP & TCP.

I have both tcp Udp ports forward for 6346, I have in my LAN connection>properties>TCP/ICP> properties> it says obtain IP address auto. I tried with the D-link guys placing ip address 192.168.0.99, subnet mask: 255.255 etc: and default gateway as 192.168.0.1 After this I couldnt even connect to the internet. replaced the dot to obtain IP auto and was able to connect again. Basically was that the way to set up a static IP. LOTR I have no idea what is wrong it worked months ago on LW 4.8 then boom wuth LW 4.9 it died. I also tried going directly fom my ethernet connection to the cable modem but it stated "limited connection etc.." and I could get on the net. |
