Stuck on Loading User Interface..HELP

I have windows XP pro on a P4.

I have turned off XP firewall
I have uninstlled Norton Firwall
I have tired Java 1.4.2 & 1.5 -not down loading from the website
I have tried deleting my Limwire folder
I have tired saving LW to my computer and then Loading
I have even tired going back to the old version of LW

But nothing works.

It keeps getting stuck on "Lading User Interface"

It will not go beyond this screen. It just hangs there and ties up my system.

Any other suggestions?

Any help is much appreciated.

Right-click LW & choose properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000 & see if that makes any difference. The things you tried will normally overcome this type of issue. If you tried Java 1.5 but then wanted to try 1.4.2, you'd need to uninstall 1.5 1st. Fixes for Limewire

Thanks..But didn't work

Lord,

I tired chaging to 2000 and that didn't work either. I did uninstall 1.5 before I reinstalled 1.4.2.

I just don't know what to do now. Maybe there is some firewall on Cox or my Motorola Modem?

I'm getting desperate.

Cox? Well they are known to filter/block some users who use p2p sharing programs. But still, that doesn't explain why the program isn't loading. Which versions of LW have you tried & which ones have worked for you in the past? Is there a possibility you have another utility such as an AV program preventing LW from loading?

What do you mean by AV?

I previously had 4.0.-something and I have tried down loading the latest version from the site. I tried the recommeded download and the other download if the reco didn't work. Unfortunately I am not by my home computer right now to confirm the exact versions.

I did have that last version of Limewire and it worked perfectly so I don't think Cox is blocking it.

Oh you mean Anti-Virus........Duh..........

****........I have an antivirus on Norton system works that I have forgotten about. I will check that when I get home.

Thanks for your time. I just needed someone to kick me in the butt to remind me about all the junk I have on my computer.

Anti virus programs have been known to block LW believe it or not. Some have a setting to allow certain programs to operate, a little like a firewall. I've heard of the same thing with some other utilities also. I can't put a name to them but things like spyware programs, etc.

Still No Luck!!!!

Lord,

I have tired everything stated on your fix link. I shut down my antivirus and XP firewall and still it hangs on loading user interface. I down loaded it at work and it starts right up. I need to figure out what is going on with my home computer. Something is locking it at Loading user interface!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I haven't tired is not saving it on to my computer and just down laoding it straight from the site. Maybe I should try that???? That's what I did at work and it works fine.

Any other suggestions??????
