Question Peer to peer with WRT54G v4

Here is my dilema. I am using satellite internet which is working great. From there I have a simple 10/100 switch and 7 WRT54G v4 routers with about 30 users on each. The internet connection works fine most of the time until the users start the peer to peer sharing. Then the network bogs down to where it is almost useless. I have heard about port forwarding, but have no clue where to begin. Are there any other settings I could change on my router to get this traffic out of my network. I still want to allow the peer to peer. Anyone aware of firmware that could help out?
I would greatly appreciate any help and so would the troops I support.

You using Linksys, i have the same model as you have but have no problem. my LimeWire can configure my router for me.

There is a manual book explain how to port forwarding, or look it up in Linksys website.

Since you using Sat, it a great speed but down time is awful cuz the Sat is that far, and it takes some time to reach to you
