I'm not quite sure what happened. Just one day, Limewire would no longer connect. It says I have my Firewall set to block it, but i have Limewire.exe, the installation file, and javaw.exe all set to allow full access. Limewire also says this when I turn the firewall completely off. My firewall is a McAfee, and I'm not using Windows firewall with it. I've tried deleting the .limewire folder in my Documents and Settings folder, and also reinstalling. Here are some specs, I don't know if they'll help.

Windows XP
512 MB DDR400 RAM
McAfee firewall

I also tried clicking on the test page thing that I saw in another link, and it said the test worked. Please, if anybody can, help!

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

Try adding limewire.exe to your firewall exceptions to see if this makes any difference, or follow the pm suggestions or both.

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Satellite
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure of this... my modem is Creative Modem Blaster PCI Value DI5652-1, although this might have been the modem I used before, when I had dialup (before I used LimeWire). I'm not quite sure about my router either, but it says Belkin on it. Do you need more information about that?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? home
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LimeWire 4.8.1 Pro, Java 1.4.2_03, although this problem also occurs with the newest version of LimeWire

Do you see your model of belkin on the following link? http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm If yes, then follow the links that come with it, select LW as the program, set up a static ip, forward port 6346. Then within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

As far as I'm aware, satellite connections can be rather inconsistent purely by thei rnature. They're affected by climatic conditions, particularly clouds, sun flares, etc. They can also have their own type of firewalling.

I looked on the bottom of my router and it is a F5D8230-4. It is not on that list.

Sounds like a later model. If there's a UPnP switch on it then turn it on, if not, you might still be best to port forward. See the instructions of one of the later models to see how it compares. Do you have a manual for your own model? The browser address for the router is generally the same for most of the same brand.
