Default Waiting for stable connection...

Lately, it has been taking quite a while (5 minutes or more) for Limewire to get a connecttion to the Internet when I load the program. If I have some files I've been looking for, I get a messgae which says "Waiting for a stable connection." I use COX cable - but I checked and am not blocked from using P2P. Could someone tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks.......

Hmmm Cox have a bit of a reputation for blocking some of their users and denying it.

However. It is possible your Limewire is trying unsuccessfully to connect as an ultrapeer.

Go to preferences or options > Speed > Dissable ultrapeer capabilities.tick box >apply>ok.

See if this helps

Sorry, but "yes," that helped - and so did the sticky posts. The only other question I have is: how do I determine my download and upload speed. That may sound like a dumb question - but I really don't know how. Thanks again........
