Default Have recently lost connection on Limewire

Last week, and for quite some time now (more than two years), my Limewire has been working fine. I go on today and i cannot connect. It tells me i have a firewall or no connection to the internet. I have made no changes to my computer to cause this, i do have a router but it has been the same one i have been using for all this time.

I have read some other posts about not being able to connect, and have seen the website to test if the ports are working for Limewire and i got the message that THIS TEST WORKED or however it is put.

I talked to other people using optimum online that live near me and no one is having this problem. I'd really like this to be fixed, i've tried pretty much everything i've read here, such as deleting preferences and so on, but nothing seems to be working. Why would Limewire stop working all of a sudden?

I'm on windows XP, using a linksys Wireless-G router, using optimum online.

I spoke to other people using opt online, they have no problem on LW. Like i said, LW has worked for me with this same setup for years now, and all of a sudden i cannot connect because it claims i either do not have an internet connection, or i have a firewall.

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

How many firewalls do you have?
Are you using Windows XP & is that SP2?
Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

I'm only using the Windows XP Firewall, even when i turn it off, and follow the instructions on your link, still cannot connect. My router is connected to two computers, both with the same setup. Windows XP with SP2, etc.

Strange thing is when i click the link that shows whether your ports are open for LW, it says YOUR TEST WORKED. Also, it has worked for years now and all of a sudden, with no change to anything on my computer, i can no longer connect. It seems other people using optimum online in my area can still connect, so i'm stumped here.

It really looks like your ISP optimum online is monitoring your connections and has started blocking P2P network activity. 2 of you started having the same problem all of the sudden really says to me it is your ISP. My guess is they are monitoring your Internet activity and when they see heavy bandwidth usage such as P2P activity they start blocking your ports. You may want to try different ports.

I have Optimum Online and the last few days it has not been working Limewire after working for quite some time.....I called Optimum Online and they denied doing anything saying my account was "clean" They are esclating the issue and are going to see what the problem is.

They recently upgraded Long Island to 15mbdown/2mb up and if u pay xtra 30mbdown/2mb up......so maybe this upgrade has something to do with it.

Doesnt make sense though as they are allowing ppl to host their own web servers/email servers with the 30/2 service...

Hmm, well hopefully they just screwed something up and will be fixing it asap.

If you have any updates say so, I'm from LI so maybe this does have something to do with it. I may call them as well if they fix it for you, not sure what i'd say though. I feel strange saying my Limewire isn't connecting heh.
