Trying the numbers didnt work for me. I live on a university campus, and they get there internet through 'WVNET'. So would the optimum fixes still apply to me? Because Im sort of confused about the whole optimum thing. I mean, i didnt loose connects until monday, and its not just gnutella programs, I cant get others like Imesh to connect either.

Sorry to be a bother and ask so many questions, but Im kinda slow! Here is my computer stats:

Dell Dimension 4500

Windows XP HE

Pentium 4 2Gh processor

512 Ram + extra ram stick (not sure how much)

Nvidia graphics card

Netgear Fa311 Ethernet adapter.

No fire walls, not even windows

No antivirus software

No spyware programs

No router that i know of...

Please someone give me some feedback.

I asked the computing services on campus and I was told that they dont block access to p2p networks at all, but they do restrict the amount of bandwidth each person can use for p2p. What else could be causing this?!? The only networks I can connect to is Emule, and, no offence, but I cant find what Im looking for on the this network....

Did you ask how much you can download before the shut you off. You may have used too much they probably have a monthly allotment.

Ironically, before I lost my connection, I hadnt downloaded anything in almost a month. So I doubt it had anything to do with bandwith issues. *sobs*

I also have a problem with connecting to LimeWire. This is very recent. Never had the problem before. I have tried connecting my computer directly to my cable modem vs. my router, and no change. My WinXP Firewall is OFF. What the heck is going on?

A lot of ISPs get their backbone service from AT&T Worldnet.
They have been running rolling blocks for a few years now,
and the blackouts tend to last a couple of weeks.

I get the impression it's to save bandwidth. These blocks
seem to be showing up more in areas with heavier traffic.
