It looks like there are alot of people having the same problem with not being able to connect or having firewall problems.

Is this a recent issue with LimeWire users, or has this been going on for a while?

LimeWire has not changed anything in the last few days and it worked on Optimum until the last few days maybe you should add it up 2+2 = 4 I would say the problem = Optimum

I saw those threads and I seem to be having the same problems they are. I just want to know what's going on.

Is it Me, My ISP, My Computer, My Router or just LimeWire in general???

Grrrrrr lol

I received your pm responses to my questions. You say you're using XP but you have no firewalls. Did you realise XP has its own firewall? Try configuring it as described here Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

You said you have both Motorola Surfboard , Linksys. Can you possibly find out the model numbers of each one? This will be most helpful to know exactly how you're set up. I would imagine if there's any issues with these devices, it will be with the Motorola. Linksys uses UPnP & is generally very reliable to use UPnP (allows a program to communicate directly with the router to open whichever ports are required ... if the program is UPnP capable.)

It certainly doesn't look like LW's fault!

It just seems weird that all of these problems are poping up.

Also, I checked out my settings. Here they are

From LimeWire > Tools > Options > Advanced > Firewall Config

Listening Port:
Listen on Port : 24297

Router Configuration:
checked on Use UPnP

Your settings sound fine!!! Just as an experiment, try changing the listening port to these ones: 80, 443, 427, 20, 21, 22, 139, 548, 10000, 64049. That will mean changing it, pressing apply button. If it's trying to connect, go to File>Disconnect. Wait 60 secs, then File>Connect. Give it at least 15 mins for each one to try to connect. I must say I'm not sure whether you should just wait 60 secs or should quit LW, then re-launch between each port change. This last idea will be sure it's trying to connect thru the changed port.

I'm having this problem as well, as you can tell from other posts, and i have tried so many ports. I highly doubt your settings are wrong, many people are starting to think it's optimum online's doing. Whether it be a mistake or what, they are claiming they aren't blocking p2p, so hopefully this will be fixed soon.
