Unfortunately i think it is Optimum Online, because my limewire stopped working about a week ago, and so did my friend, who lives down the block from me. I didn't change anything, and i do have a firewall, but it always worked with the firewall. I even turned off both of my firewalls and configured both of them to allow limewire, but it still didn't work. If anyone knows anything further please let me know.

Well I have just about tried EVERYTHING everyone has posted...and still no luck.

At this point I'm starting to believe that it IS OOL that is preventing me from downloading anything from this site.

Especially since I had my neighbor across the street who does not use OOL but DSL, and he got on and downloaded a song with no problem.

Wilbur you should only have one active firewall. Two running together 'can' cause problems. 2 active firewalls issue Both MS & other firewall devs say the same thing.

MysticWolf,Wilbur

I do not know why you would believe it is anything besides optimum. Take a look at the evidence just in this forum about a week ago people using optimum were able to use LimeWire with no problem now if you are still running the same version of LimeWire then why did it stop all of the sudden for so many people.

Optimum first stated they were not filtering or blocking LimeWire and that it was A problem with LimeWire. Really? H'm lets think about it nothing has changed from LimeWires side then why did so many Optimum users start having a problem at the same time. Answer = Optimum.

Next statement from Optimum we seem to be having a problem with a conflict with LimeWire. H'm why it seems from what people have posted that no P2P software is working on Optimum?
Answer = Optimum is filtering or blocking P2P software.

Next statement from Optimum (Quote from techman01) (They are esclating the issue and are going to see what the problem is.

They recently upgraded Long Island to 15mbdown/2mb up and if u pay xtra 30mbdown/2mb up......so maybe this upgrade has something to do with it.

Doesnt make sense though as they are allowing ppl to host their own web servers/email servers with the 30/2 service...)

Looks like to me they are trying to make excuses and point people in another direction so people wont suspect they are possibly in breach of contract.

If it were me I would call them up and tell them to cancel my service that I was switching to another ISP that does not block or filter P2P software and where I get what I want and what I paid for. I would tell them I have no need for a Internet service that I can not use as I wish and that there service just will not work for me.

Anyway as I said I do not know why you would think anything else.

I am going to try calling them again tomorrow.

I am going to haunt these people.

And if it is them blocking P2P...are they allowed to do that???

And if they are...should they mention that to members?

It should be in the contract if it states it in there then it is legal if it is not then it is not legal.

I'll have to take a look.

How much different is LimeWire from WinMX?

We were using WinMX for years before we discovered LimeWire....and we Never had a problem with WinMX.

We have only been using LimeWire for about 4 months and we really liked it.
