ok when u start up limewire hit the connections tab it should be next to monitor and search, if you don't see a connections tab go to view hit show/hide>and check connections, Now go back to the connections tabd and click add on the bottom now add the ip's i posted and the ports and lemme know if it works because i had the same problem and i had my friend give me all the ips that were working for him and he had optimum

Three out of 4 are using port 6348 you migh try setting LimeWire to port 6348

i tried adding the ips but it seems as though they like move around on the screen and then dissapear or somthing. Im in long island and i have optimum and i have the same problem. Limewire gives me that error msg saying it can't connect because of a firewall or no internet, etc. Please can someone figure this out.

It didn't work for me, I add the host and the port, but the IP just disappears from the list after a few seconds. I'm also on Long Island, and I use Opt Online. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

have you guys tried disabiling your windows xp firewall or any antivirus firewalls they might be preventing from you guys to connect and in your options set your listen on port to 6346 Or if ur router comes with a firewall try disabling that as well

didnt work for me either..

MysticWolf December 14th, 2005 09:05 PM

It didn't work for me either.

I know it's not my router, because I hooked up my cable directly to the modem...still shows a FireWall and still No Connection.

I have been reading all the diffrent threads and posts in the forums and have tried everything everyone has posted as a 'FIX' and none of it has worked so far.

I truly believe that IT IS optimum online that is causing this Blockage.

But, OOL is in the midst of updating their systems...so maybe this is just a Glitch till they get the new system up and running.
