Hey LOTR. What up?

Some of the info you are asking for has already been provided:
3.DSL connection
5.Connects (or at least tries to) from home
6.Limewire version 4.10 Pro and Java 1.5.0_01
7.ISP is Cable one (AFAIK a "clean" ISP, i.e that doesn't block P2P)

Hey sara.

The difference between a modem and a router is important: a modem is a device that allows you to connect to the internet and, roughly, a router is a modem with a built-in firewall.
If it is a router you're having (I don't think that this is the case) then this needs to be configured too.

"none" of my questions were answered.
It's my guess your 2wire device has a model number something like *1000hw, *1000s, *1000sw, *1000W, *1000W, *1800hg, or *2700hg.
Well I guess it's a guessing game. I see something black with a white dot in the middle & ... see who's the 1st to guess what it is.

Excellent, thank you. That means you will need to log into your device using your browser & make some small changes.

1. Set up a Static ip (very important - instructions in link below in #2)

2. Forward port 6346 as described here http://www.portforward.com/english/r...w/Limewire.htm

3. Within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.

This should do the trick. If not, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.) & then repeat step #3 above. Give LW plenty of time to connect. It may take 5, 10, 20+ mins the 1st time. See how many green or blue bars you have at the bottom left of the LW interface window after this time.

BTW you shouldn't make or change proxy settings unless you have a proxy internet address. But deleting your LW prefs folder will remove this setting.

Hi sara,
After you set up your static IP, did you set up port forwarding through your modem? The static IP is just the first step, so that port forwarding can work.

It all seems like a PITA but once you get it working, you won't look back. I had heaps of grief with mine, simply coz I forgot to press 'apply' after one of the steps!!

Once you get your port forwarding set up, then you can set LW to manual port forward within your tools > options etc.

Good luck
