You can't make yourself be an UP. Limewire decides for itself what it needs. It also depends on your setup, connection speed, how long your online, and I remember reading that the newer versions of LW don't need as many UPs. Also if your sharing alot of files and getting alot of uploads you will tend to be a leaf. I'm not sure how it all works, but being an UP sounds cool but is not any advantage over being a leaf.

actualy, wouldant it be a better connection to the network?
i was a UP once and there was like 20 connections to peers and 15 or so to leafs, seams like more connections to different computers on diferent parts of the network would have better search results...

but that sounds posable because i share my library of songs, 1thousand epasodes of diferent tv shows i like and its like 5 thousand songs then some other small stuff bout 150gig total
