Desktop icon has stopped working
 

I have been using Limewire 1.6 successfully since August. Now, when I click the icon on the desktop, a white square box appears in the center of my monitor where the Limewire Logo used to be. It causes my computer to freeze. When I hit control, alt and delete, the screen pops up that "javaw" is running. It will not let me delete it.

I thought if I downloaded the newer version, I would be able to access Limewire, however when I click on the icon of Limewire 1.7, nothing happens (at least the screen does not freeze).

Any ideas how I can connect again?
