Enabling Open Information Sharing I'm a noob with Limewire and I just installed it. I have been able to search for stuff, but not able to download it. I see at the top that it says Enabling Open Information and just stays like that. I have read around and have done the port opening. Here is what I have as well: 1) Windows XP 2) I have the firewall up, but the ports are opened for it Please help me out... |

Please ensure you post in the LW sections of the forum. You posted in the General p2p network discussion forum which has nothing to do with LW program or user problems. The LW forum sections are: Limewire Forum sections Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. |

2) All I have up is the Windows XP firewall. But I took it down and it still didn't work. 3)512 MB of Ram 4) There's about 70GB on the one where the files are installed. About 2GB left on the one that the files are shared from. 5)Cable Modem (RoadRunner) 6)It's a Webstar Cable Modem (What does this have to do with anything?) 7) I'm connecting from home 8)LW 4.10.3 Java 1.5.0_06 9) RoadRunner 10)I have an xbox connected through to the internet with another NIC card. Thanks for the help in the advance. |

It's a standard set of questions to understand your set up. It's difficult helping to solve a problem when you can't see it. And the forum rules stipulate details of one's comp set up should be included (without us having to ask for it.) You can search & get results but not downld. See the options here & see if that's the problem: License requirement (click on link) If not, get back to us. BTW don't go unprotected without a firewall (even if XP firewall is not very good, it still does a job.) Instead, configure it for LW's full access: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) |
