Question Not Able To Connect

I started with a PC configuration that is working with KaZaa P2P and tried to setup Limewire to replace it.
All connectivity aspects seem to be working but all I ever get is "You are currently connecting to the network".

Here is a description of my setup and what I have tried so far:

Location: Home
OS: Windows 2000 Professional - unofficial SP5 (SP4 + Update Roll-up)
Connection: Cable
ISP: Comcast
Cable Modem: Cisco Linksys Cable Modem Model BEFCMU10
Router: Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless Router Model WGR614 v5
Firewall: Sygate Personal Firewall Version 5.6.2808
Proxy Server: FreeProxy Version 3.81.1527
Limewire: Version 4.10.0 Basic
JAVA: Version 1.5.0_04
6346 Test: Went to http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and page said 'Your test worked!'

Home Network:

Peer to Peer Hybrid using Ehternet & Phoneline adapters on two separate segments.
Have a gateway PC that is connected to the Cable modem & both segments.
The wireless router is used on the Ethernet segment - UPnp & RIP Multicasting are enabled.
The Ethernet side is using the proxy server on the gateway PC to access the internet.
Sygate Personal Firewall is setup on the gateway PC.

Connectivity:

PC that I am trying to use with Limewire is connected by Ethernet cable via a static IP address.
This PC connects through the router to the gateway PC and the proxy server.
Sygate Personal Firewall is also setup on this PC.
Defined Limewire to use the proxy server with a Socks v5 port at 9590.
Defined 6346 as the listening port.
Defined 6346 under firewall options as "Manual Port Forward".
Defined 9590 & 6346 to the Netgear Router in Port Fowarding to forward it to the gateway PC.

Other P2P:

I have been using KaZaa on this same PC up until now and it works using Socks v5 port 9090.
I setup a different listening port, 3387, which also works.
I have tried Limewire with and without KaZaa being active, it doesn't work either way.

Testing Scenarios:

Tried using the UPnp firewall option instead of 6346 with the "Manual Port Forward", no good.
As stated above, went to the website and confirmed 6346 is working.
Also successfully tested KaZaa P2P using Socks v5 port 9590 to confirm that the port works.

I activated debugging on the Limewire console and this is what I get when I start Limewire:

0 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.expire - Fetching more bootstrap servers. Last fetch time: 0
47 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.recoverHosts - recovering hosts file
63 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.readHostsFile - Reading Hosts File
63 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.read - entered HostCatcher.read(File)
63 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.read - read line: null
24610 DEBUG [AWT-EventQueue-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.read - left HostCatcher.read(File)
24750 DEBUG [Timer-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.multicastFetch - Fetching via multicast
24829 DEBUG [Timer-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.run - restoring hosts on probation
26766 DEBUG [Timer-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.gwebCacheFetch - Fetching hosts. Next allowed time: 1136757328296

> from this point on just continues repeating the following 2 messages:

84829 DEBUG [Timer-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.run - restoring hosts on probation
86750 DEBUG [Timer-0] gnutella.HostCatcher.multicastFetch - Fetching via multicast

I also turned on tracing for ports 9090 & 6346 in FreeProxy and I don't see any activity.

At this point it looks like the ports are working but Limewire isn't able to communicate with them.

So, what do you think?

Any ideas on what the problem might be or what else I might try?
