Gnutella Popup error hogs CPU - how do I stop it?

For the most part, LimeWire works fine except after a short while there is a popup that states "Error" in the title bar and the box reads ..."LimeWire is unable to connect to hosts on the Gnutella networks. This is most often due to firewalls or content-filtering...." et cetera. That is wrong as I am connected - there are people downloading and I am uploading!

The uploads and downloads don't stop - they carry along just fine - for a while The problem is, clicking "OK" or the [X] on the popup error does nothing as there are many other popup errors of the same note behind it. It is a race against clicking and popups as to who will get back control of LimeWire.

Until the popups are finally closed, one cannot use any other part of LimeWire - like Tools, Search, Monitor - can't even close LW without rebooting and loosing position on the DL.

Since the error seems to be misreporting a problem that doesn't matter, is there a way to kill the notice and stop it from ever coming back?

The more pop errors - the slower things get. I just closed 43 of them! and in a few seconds, they will reappear. I have to catch them as they come of it gets so slow, mouse clicks have no effect.

It is most annoying having to sit there with a mouse in hand clicking those error poipups closed as they open.

It made it's point the first time - how do I stop it from repeating?

try the latest version--and hope that the error is fixed.

btw, downloads and uploads don't need LW to be connected, just running. The connections to other hosts are mostly needed for searches.

If connections to all the hosts in the connections pane drop, then LW will sometimes flash that erroneous message that you aren't connected to the internet. The devs have been trying for a while to figure out why that happens, but apparently it's not a simple bug.

You can set the bug report options to "always discard all errors" or "send immediately". That might stop all the errors popping up for review.
