![]() Ok so a few months back Limewire stopped connecting on me. It displayed a message saying either I had no internet connection or a firewall was blocking my access. I double checked the firewall and it didn't seem like it was blocking it, I did all the things that the help section in the Limewire page suggested and still nothing. So I brought it to a computer store where all of a sudden it worked no problem and I looked like an idiot. I brought it back home and still had the exact same problem. Two weeks later I brought it back to the Computer store and the guy disabled the firewall completely and it worked. Grand so! Now months later my flatmate downloads Limewire and gets the exact same problem. She brings her laptop into the store and it magically works but when she brings it home the same problem occurs. I find that my laptop experiences the same thing as well. I disabled the entire firewall and still it doesn't work. How is it that it works in the store but not at home and why is it that if Limewire was blocked by my ISP that I've always been able to get it (plus I know the computer store uses the same ISP). I'm not a techie so reading alot of things in these forums sometimes leaves me baffled!! Has anybody else experienced this problem or is there any suggestion what I could do?? The techie guys at the computer store use Limewire too but they didn't have a clue why this was happening! Please help! Thanks. ![]() |

![]() It sounds like either your isp or your modem/router. More likely the latter. See Connection problems? Check here first! & see how that affects you. May I ask who is your isp? May I ask what brand & model of modem &/ router do you have? What firewalls do you have? I'd be interested to know what your answer is to point #1 in the above link!?! ![]() Don't forget also to try different options ... for a start, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included.) |

![]() Thank you so much for responding. I'm going to try and test all that when I get home (at work now!). for the ISP I live in the Cayman Islands so I'm not sure you would be able to know if it's the ISP that is affecting it. The firewall is just the standard Windows XP firewall. Would you know why though why it has worked all this time and then suddenly it stops? We haven't changed any settings on the computer. Thanks Rebecca |

![]() okay so I did that url test for the ISP and it worked no problem. I tried to delete the preferences etc but I cannot find the folder .limewire etc under application data....I just have a plain folder in the program files called limewire. I deleted all of them completely from the computer and removed every component of it then complete reinstalled limewire and made sure the firewall was completely disabled and still have the same problem. The router I use is: Linksys wireless-g model wrt54g I dunno...what's going on!! |

![]() I've turned the firewall off completely but icon at the bottom of limewire still shows that there is a firewall blocking it. Also I hooked into another completely difference wireless connection and nothing changed. |

![]() To find the prefs folder for 4.10 you need to check point #3 here: Fixes for Limewire: Fixes for Limewire The Linksys wrg54g is not reliable for UPnP. Thus, follow the directions as suggested in the link I gave above for manual port forward. Port 6346 is what you need! Extra help can be found here: (1) static ip for Linksys: Static ip for Linksys, 2. http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...type=search_nl 3. See my link above for link & instructions for LW manual port forward settings, etc. |
