Connection Problems with MP3 Rocket Alright I have spent a good hour trying to look through all these threads, and nothing seems to tell me what to do with this program I have just downloaded. I installed the MP3Rocket 4.9 Pro version and I am running Windows XP, I did the little test and it gives me an error page. Come someone give me a step by step lesson as to how to get my icon in the lower left hand corner to stop saying "starting connection". The icon next to it says that it still detects a firewall. I have followed all instructions to allow Gnutella to be an exception and an added port, dont know what else to do???? |

Do you mean that you installed a version of LW Pro that you got from mp3Rocket?? If so, you were scammed. Read through this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28751 I've just looked at the site & it's a scam. LW Pro from the official site (in the thread it tells you) costs $18.88 for 6 months of updates & email support. Contact your CC company & cancel your transaction |

Same Problem OK, I took your advice, and I removed the MP3Rocket version and I downloaded the Basic "free" Limewire version and it set up the exact same way. On the lower left hand corner it says "you are currently connecting to the network" beside it is an icon that says "limewire has detected a firewall". I have followed the step by step instructions to add the ports in the instructions to make an exception for Gnutella as directed. I have even followed the directions and erased the limewire folder at: Documents/Settings/owner_name/limewire. I tried the test page again and it still doesnt work. Bottom line, I am still unable to connect... |

Read through this & follow the steps:http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357 Pay attention to the info about routers & UPnP. If your router uses UPnP make sure it's enabled within the device & also within LW (tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Tick 'use UPnP', apply) What's your set up: OS LW & Java version (Help > about LW & it'll tell you) ISP Modem/router brand & model number Connection type (dial-up, ADSL etc) Where you conect from (home, work etc) Firewall you're using Is this your first try at using LW? Are you sharing your connection with other computers? Last edited by birdy; January 24th, 2006 at 10:21 PM. |

If you are an end user, please contact your Internet Service Provider for technical support. __________________________________________________ I did check LW and the bullet is checked that has "use Upnp" RESPONSE: What's your set up: OS Windows XP LW & Java version (Help > about LW & it'll tell you) LW 4.10.5 Java 1.5.0_06 ISP CenturyTel Connection type (dial-up, ADSL etc) DSL Where you conect from (home, work etc) Home Firewall you're using Windows Firewall-only Is this your first try at using LW? Did you go to the LW test page? http://www3.limewire.com:6346 What did the test say? I can't find any info to tell me whether your modem uses UPnP. If it does, you'll have to enable it within your modem as well as within LW. If there's no UPnP, you might have to forward a port through your modem. Try & find out about the UPnP first though |

Did you check out UPnP?? If you found that your modem doesn't have it, you can try port forward. To enable UPnP in the modem, either see the manual or ask your ISP to help. Just make sure your ISP is not blocking p2p. Some do & you should check to see that this is not a prob before you go any further. Here's how to port forward... Step 1: Set up a static IP address. This HAS to be done first: http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm Step 2: Port forward through your modem: http://www.portforward.com/english/r...d/Limewire.htm Step 3: When port forwarding's in place, within LW, tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Tick manual port forward & enter the port number you've forwarded (6346 is the default). Apply. Your listening port (on same page) will be the same number. You might have to restart LW to effect the change, I can't remember Last edited by birdy; January 24th, 2006 at 11:12 PM. |
