It can, but it depends on the set up. Can you tell us the brand name & model of connection devices?

Some satellite services may not be too keen on p2p so it may also depend on the ISP policy & anything they may have done to counter p2p use.

Have a look at Connection problems? Check here first! & follow thru the steps if you can. Do the tests.

I found this info on satellite usage: http://vtruralbroadband.com/about-broadband.html

Do you use a modem at all? ie: a device between your computer & antena/sat dish?

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Nope i don't use a modem or anything.. its a wireless connection,,

and i did everything but not the test since it wont for me ( the Page wont disply) other than that i did everything i could.. but its still wont work..

Thanks Again,, :D

Well at least we've ascertained that the normal port LW uses to connect through is blocked. The question is whether it's blocked due to your wireless system or by the ISP.

Most wireless connections use a NAT firewall. That probably needs looking at. Is it possible to contact your ISP to ask why port 6346 is blocked & whether it's the equipment or them that's blocking it? If it's the equipment, then ask them how to unblock it. They have no reason to block it other than being miserly & restricting your service to simply browsing. As for the equipment, I presume they provided it, so they should know how to solve the issue.

In the meantime, try a different port in LW. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the setting from UPnP to manual port forwarding. Then change both the connection port AND the listening port to another, but they should be the same. Here's some port numbers you can try: 64049, 1111, 3500, 4008, 1203, 10000, 15189, 80, 20282, 22817, 443, 427, 34599, 40475, 49152, 6295, 25079.

After changing the ports numbers, press apply button. Then go to LW's menu bar, File>Disconnect. Wait a minute, then File>Connect. Give each one at least 20 mins to try to connect. Good luck! ;)

*sighs*

Well... lol i'm really sorry ..

But i don't think its working for me.. i keep getting this Error "You machine does not appear to have an active internet connetction......." so i connect again and it appears again..

I dunno what to do ... :(

I'm sorry to bother again ..
Yui..

Dare I suggest it & I wouldn't normally, but whilst you're changing ports, disable your software firewall temporarily. Try again.

Don't forget to contact the company involved. They will know something about how to solve the issue ... if their or if not the ones who are responsible. Ask them about the equipment or whomever you obtained it from. And ask them "How to open ports" on your equipment or that the isp might be blocking. Insist to them that you're aware port 6346 is blocked.
