i'm apparently behind a nonexistent firewall an alert keeps coming up that says I either have no internet connection of i'm behind a firewall. The firewall's off, and im on the internet. I have ZoneAlarm but i completely shut the down and i still couldn't connect. I just don't get it. |

What about Windows firewall? Is that configured for LW or disabled? The firewall might be within your modem/router. Check this thread: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357 If your modem/router uses UPnP, you'll have to enable it in the unit & also in LW. |

ok, thank you. I went to that page and I clicked the link to test the port number 6346 and i couldn't view the page. This, i gather, is because it's blocked on something called an ISP. Now, I'm rather computer illiterate. How would I fix my ISP to allow that port, or maybe all Gnutella traffic. I'm on Windows XP, by the way. |

LW worked until it needed a java update, so, i did that, and since then, it hasn't been able to connect because of a "firewall" that isn't there. I have windows XP and i check the setting there. LimeWire is checked off as an exception to the firewall, but that shouldn't matter because the firewall is off. At the moment, ZoneAlarm is completely shutdown. It does, however, have LW completely trusted as well as java. My router is a 2.4 GHz Cable/DSL Router with 4-port switch and it's made by Network Everywhere Model NWR04B. Im connecting at home, and again, it worked until i updated Java to the newest java, i believe. I have th router connected to 2 computers, both with LW, both experiencing the same problems. I've tried reinstalling, installing new software like Bear Share, or whatever, with no luck. I'm not sure about the ram on the computer, and i believe the amount vaires between the both of them. |

it just doesn't make sense that i have no firewall on and the little picture at the bottom of limewire still shows the little globe with the wall in front of it. Could it maybe be something with java, because, until i downloaded that, it was working fine. now it won't connect because of some firewall that isn't there. |

woodeedoo, It's not a firewall like you have on the computer. It's like a firewall within your router...a security feature. LW detects it as a firewall. You can run happily for ages & then one day LW will detect your modem/router's firewall. It's happened to me |

Below is the link to your router and it does have a firewall in it. It is actually a Linksys Wireless Broadband 802.11b http://www.networkeverywhere.com/products/nwr04b.asp Your router supports UPnP but I can not find instructions on enabling it. But below are instructions to port Forward it. If you port forward you must set up a static IP address. http://portforward.com/english/route...B/Limewire.htm |

I'm getting the same firewall problem, but I'm in a hotel. It's not wireless. I'm running LW 4.10.0 on WIN XP. I can't get any connection here, but it's fine everywhere else. I did the test of port 6346 or whatever the number is. It didn't come through. What can I do? |
