Default major connection problems, nothing is working...please help me!

hi, ive read through pretty much a lot of the threads, i have installed and uninstalled limewire many times. i have done all the things that was said in the threads. i am fairly computer illiterate but i am using zonealarm firewall, windows xp firewall is not running. i have checked that the upnp is enabled and it is. i deleted the limewire file and ticked the box that says no pop ups closed all down etc. zonealarm is ticked to allow limewire to work but the globe with the firewall is still there. i am in student accomodation so i thought that there firewall may be a problem but it was all working fine about 3 weeks ago. it connects fine and then goes red and disconnects...i am desperate nothing works. im using limewire 4.10.5, windows xp home edition. sorry that this rambles im desperate to help. i hope this is enough info please help me!

Hi ... please can you check that your accomodation/dorm .. has not started capping p2p use ... This is the first thing I'd look at from what you say.

Also ... when you start Limewire does it start with any incomplete downloads in the download window. Try clearing these (they can be resumed later from the Library window. ....and restarting Limewire.

Also go to options>speed > Ultrapeer capabilities >and tck "dissable ultrapeer capabitities"

Let us know if any of these help

i asked my student halls whether they blocked it and they said they didnt, as my flatmates limewire is working i am inclined to believe them. ive disabled the ultrapeers before but ill give it another shot. ive also made sure in zonealarms program control that java and limewire are ticked. i cleared all the downloads and it doesnt work, but what i did notice was that even though the little bars on the bottom left are always red if i have any songs waiting to download, they still do allbeit very slowly! anymore suggestions?

me again! just to update you in the ongoing saga of me probably breaking my computer! i did all that you said and then it worked! but only for a while. it is now coming up with every single song i try to download 'need more sources'. so ive got the java thing, downloaded offline, configured my firewall (even though it says that im still behind one, i assume that that is the one in my student halls), right clicked on limewire and configured it to windows 2000, and deleted the .limewire file, all this whilst limewire was closed....help!

Default this worked 4 me

I decided to rebuild the IP stack. After rebuilding the IP Stack I restarted the PC and the problem was still there. I looked at Network Properties again and noticed that the new IP stack added TCP/IP Version 6 yet the old TCP/IP was still there. I tried modifying Ver 6 for DNS and WINS info and there was no way to modify it. So... I decided to just add the DNS/WINS info in the old TCP/IP. *restarted* once again.. Didn't fix it

Finally I decided to just delete Version 6 TCP/IP *restarted* and it worked!!
Network was the issue all along.

I apologise...I didn't read your post properly

You should probably uninstall LW (just to make sure it's all gone) :

Then reinstall. Follow LOTR's advice:
