Optus satellite I have installed LimeWire Pro onto a computer running windows XP SP2. I also Norton AntiVirus (Ver 7.61) and Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1. I have spent hours on the forum and have configured ports, forced proxys, Made exceptions in the firewall etc. We did connect for a short period on the free version of LimeWire and managed to download a couple of songs on very slow speed but since then have had not luck. We are connected to the internet via Optus satellite with SkyEdge modem. Can you help. |
Hi goingcrazy, Have you done the port 6346 test (to see if port 6346 is blocked)? Have a read through this thread, there's a bit of satellite info plus a link to doing the test: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...274#post189274 I've never heard of Optus blocking or filtering p2p, but it might be worth calling them to make sure ;) |
Thanks for your reply. The test worked. We ended up getting fair connectivity last night and tried to download five songs. The speed varied up to 12 kb/s but LW kept disconnecting. It took about an hour and a half to reconnect about 3 times to download 4 of them and we gave up on the fifth. Is there any way to tell if we have a second firewall? I have tried connecting with the windows XP firewall turned off but it is no better than with it on. A firewall symbol comes up in the left window and also when I looked in tools-Options-bug report under : "Recieved incoming this session" there was a false reading. |
