Help Me Connect! I hate to sound like a broken record, but I can't get LW to connect. Can anyone help? I've spent hours going throught the "look here first" posts and tried different things but ... nothing. I still can't connect. I am using limewire 4.10.2. I use Win98SE. My ISP is a local wireless company. The modem just plugs in to my ethernet card which I installed. The card is a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 PCI Adapter ... if that means anything to anyone. The modem is a Navini Networks Ripwave-MX. I'm fairly sure that I don't have a firewall at all. All I have in the security department is an unsupported version of Norton Anti-Virus 2001. I believe that my ISP is blocking my ports. This link: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ Does NOT work for me. Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config Listening Port Router Configuration I've tried using many other ports suggested by 'Lord of the Rings' in another thread with no success. When I did this I entered the new port number in the 'Listen on Port' field as well as in the 'Manual Port Forward' field under Router Configuration. I don't know if I did this right or not. Then I tried to re-connect with no success. I also tried many different http proxy's with no success. I tried this both with my ports set @ 6346 and others. Can anyone help me?!? This is total bs...i sign up for highspeed wireless for the purpose of using Limewire or others and I can't get the friggin' thing to work! |
TS82, Have you seen this thread about ISPs who block p2p http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=33712 Have a look through & see if yours is there. Or you could give them a call & ask them straight out whether they're blocking. |
Yes I've seen the thread. My ISP isn't on there, but like I said they're a small local company. I do suspect that they are blocking p2p however. Is there ANYTHING I can do if they are blocking? Also, could someone confirm if I need to re-start LW after switching ports, or can you just do a 'Re-Connect'.? I'll have to read the thread you mention a little more closely. It looks like it might help. |
