90+% of LW users connect as Leafs. Ultrapeers are users who have lots of speed & the network decides they are needed as UP's to help other people to connect to the gnutella network. UP's help to filter out a lot of unnecessary traffic a user doesn't need to receive. So it's quite normal to be running as a Leaf. If you click to view incoming searches in the Monitor window, you'll get a warning that UP's filter out most of the traffic so you won't see it. You'll only see searches related to your own files that you're sharing. It's the lower part of the window that shows people who are uploading from you. That's the more important part. Also, if you go to the library window & click on your shared folder, you'll see columns to the right of the filenames. Hits shows those files that have shown up in other people's searches. The upload column shows uploads & attempted uploads. These are more important information than the view incoming searches window.
Make sure you're not firewalled. See the Sticky at the top of this section for clues. |
