Firewall Problem

Please help me..I am getting very fustrated with this problem. I have removed the firewall like you had said and still have problems connecting to Limewire. I have also checked my bug report and it does say flase but what can I do to resolve this matter.....I have spent hours upon hours trying to fix this problem . Please do help me A S A P....Thank you

You don't have to remove a firewall, unless you have 2 running (only run 1 or it'll cause probs). Just make sure your firewall's configured for LW. Instructions for it here
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357

Firewall probs can also be due to modems/routers having an internal firewall. There's info in the thread...see if your router has a NAT firewall. If your router uses UPnP, it should be turned on in the unit & also ticked within LW (tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Tick use UPnP & apply). Do the port test & see what result you get (see link).

If this isn't any help, tell us your details
OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

:)

No Help

I still Can not get anywhere. I even changed the port manually with no results. I have a home laptop compputer only 6 months old. I connect by modem- dial up. I keep doing everything your site tells me to do to fix the situation but I get no results. I never had any problems with Limewire and then several days ago this Firewall blocked me and since then I can't do anything even though I had removed it per your instructions....Please help me fix this situation....I am at me wits end and I am disgusted

You might be disgusted & I'm sure you're frustrated but... how the hell are people supposed to help you if you don't give the requested information?

Sorry, the crystal ball isn't working right now.

More Furious

Here Is everything I can possibly tell you.....

My computer is a Dell....Microsoft with Windows XP..Intel
I have McAfee Anti Virus program
I have only one computer which is a notebook and used primarily in the home. It is not connected to any other computer.
I use currently modem/dial up service.
I just put back up my firewall for protection, since deleting it had no results.
I did the bug report as per your advice and it was fine no problems.
I had changed the port manually to see if it would make a difference and it hasn't.
As I have told you before when i went into tools and into view example it did say False not True.
I don't know what else I can tell you.
I did everything that your Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall problem told me to do step by step with no results...
So what more can I possibly tell you....More or less I did EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING I was supposed to do with no results at all.... I need some expertise ASAP....

Please give this information as per my first reply. If anyone's going to be able to help you, they need specifics. For example, saying you have a modem isn't enough. As you see below, we need to know the brand & model.

If this isn't any help, tell us your details
OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Did you do the port test? What was the result? Did you find out whether your modem uses NAT?

Maybe you can help me...Its been one month, and still nobody on this site has been able to help me. Limewire freezes my modem everytime it starts to connect.

OS - Win XP
LW & Java version - LW 4.10.9 Java 1.5.0_06
Firewall - No idea...not windows though
Modem/router brand & model - Modem - Sprinte 660 series
Router - Belkins with Belkin wireless adatpter
ISP - AOL, Sprint
Connection type (DSL etc) - DSL
Where you connect from (home, school etc) - Home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers - Yes...one master... and this one is routed through it with Belkins wireless router.
Is this your first try with LW - no..it worked at first...just stopped.

I'm sorry but I don't think I'm going to be much help. The only other thread I can find that's remotely like your prob is
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=modem+freezes

Maybe it's a problem that stems from AOL?? I know some people have trouble with LW because of AOL's Pest patrol.

Have you called Sprint & asked a tech? It might be some setting within the modem? Did you make any changes before LW stopped working?

Maybe someone else will read this & have a few ideas:confused:

Not sure if it'll make any difference but I read that your modem uses UPnP. Do you have it turned on & ticked within LW? Have you done the port 6346 test in this thread? Go through everything in here & make sure you're configured properly
