conection trouble one win XP
 

Hi

I used the system restore on XP about 2 weeks ago to try to restore some files my wife acidently deleted (that did not work) now I cant connect to limewire

when I try the page http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ it says page not found and when I start limewire it pops up that I got a firewall (even if I manually turn of the windows XP firewall)

I tried deleting limewire completely and reinstalling it with no result as well as bearshare (that will not connect to the gnutella network either)

limewire was working prior to me using system restore so I have to asume that its due to system restore that it wont connect now I did download some updates after using restore so that may also be the problem I tried every other trick that I have been able to find here as well

still need help with this have any of you tried system restore and did you have the samme problem ??

is there a way around this ?? (short of formating the HD)

please any help would be greatly apreciated

You have a firewall blocking you are you using any firewall besides the XP firewall. If not are you going through a router allot of routers have firewall,s in them. Your modem may also have a firewall. Your ISP may have started blocking P2P apps also, but from what you say about using system restore I doubt it. But from what you say about BearShare and LimeWire both being blocked there is a chance that is the problem. But it most likely another firewall somewhere.
