Limewire=Never Opens im way confused I haven't did anything new to my comp accept changed mouses, I also moved around my IPOD adapter I put them in the front of my comp where I have to USB ports instead of the ones in the back. That's it im using Windows XP. I click to open Limewire and the logo comes up and it gets all the way to"Loading Library Window"and then like usual the logo disappears, but the program never opens. I don't know what to do it usually works just fine. Am I doing something wrong Iam dearly sorry if this issue has already been answered in another post please help me |
1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) 2. If that doesn't do the trick, remove your java using the Add/remove programs control panel. Then, reinstall Java but only using the "Offline" installer which is about 18 MB in size; Java 1.5 (take the JRE) |
Still not working Im trying to search for the .limewire file in my comp, the box keeps on closing. This is so annoying Lol, I tried the first 2 options but not they didnt work |
oh yeah... I even deleted limewire restarted my comp and re installed it, its still not working. |
I'm not sure why you're having this problem then. I'd have thought it was the Java or preferences being the issue. Try changing the compatibility of LW to Win 2000 & also try NT & see if that makes any difference. To see how to do it, see step 5 in the Fixes for Limewire link above. Also delete your LW preferences again before you re-open it should there be any (probably won't be.) The only other thing I could think of would be to try the Java 1.6 beta http://java.sun.com/javase/6/ (choose the JRE) & use the 19 MB "Offline" installer to downld. |
solution I had the same problem, where limewire starts to open as usual (the window shows up saying 'loading library...etc.' and then nothing. at the same time i had a problem with one of my folders where my computer would get the windows error msg every time i click on that folder...i narrowed it down to the specific folder "incomplete" that is automatically made with limewire... so i just renamed that "incomplete" folder to somethin random and then deleted it!... my limewire worked just fine after that... also LW just makes another folder called 'incomplete' after u delete the 'corrupted' one so it's ok.. i guess. well try that and see if it works... it did for me. let me know how it turns out... good luck |
