Behind a corporate firewall

I've done some searching. But, all I can find are tips for using LW behind a home firewall or software firewall. Is there a way to use it behind a corporate firewall?

Obviouslly, I cannot ask the IT dept to make changes in their firewall. What I need is a way to somehow squeeze through it, around whatever port blockage is preventing me from connecting.

Can I simply change the LW port to one that I know is not blocked? Or, is there a tunneling app that can VPN through an open port? Is there a Proxy out there open to the public?

Surely, people must have figured out how to use LW through the firewall at work. Please share it with me. I'm dyin' here.

BTW, it used to work fine. It sometimes took a bit longer than my pc at home. But, it still connected. Now, the firewall icon is in the status bar. So, they obviously made changes to their firewall to include LW.

bump

Surely, somebody on this forum runs LW successfully from behind a corporate firewall set to block P2P? If so, please share your workaround. Thanks.

There have been people who have done this ... but for some reason they're not responding or not around.

The next best thing I can think of is a proxy. A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. Such as Tor. Also check out http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=optimum about SecureIX (look at earlier pages also!) ;)

Thanks. I have tried the solution in the first thread link. But, I may not be doing it correctly. The current proxy and port options appear to be different in the current version of Limewire. In any case, it isn't working.

The solution for Optimum Online in the 2nd link doesn't apply to me, as I am behind a corp firewall at work, not an ISP related blockage.

My issue is that certain ports are blocked by our firewall, and I need to use a known good port, or a known good proxy, or some other method to tunnel out from behind the firewall. And, I need to be able to configure LW 4.10.9 accordingly.

Hum. Anyway, proxy is the only solution if your admin are relatively wise. I can't disrecommend P2P at work enough though. This is not your bandwidth, the usage you do of P2P could make your company responsible of illegal acts, + that if your admins find out you are using P2P, you could be in serious trouble. Just like watching porn while at work.... :\
