when I try to boot LW I use a shortcut on my desktop. There is no icon in my system tray(?) along the bottom by the clock. therefore I do not have access to any LW menu bar or other LW icons (that I know of :-)). Maybe I'll try a re-install and pay close attention to the set up options. I'm thinking if the firewall is an issue I should be able to bypass it and have success. A call to D-link support appears to be in order. I will try the third party link.

thanks once again

It means port 6346 which LW by default tries to connect thru is being blocked. This is usually either due to firewall, modem/router NAT firewall or ISP issue.

Check out this link if you haven't already & check the different sections that may relate to you: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

after reviewing the Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) link and noticing the D Link FAQ and Port Forwarding link I found this on the D Link site:
http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.as...&question=port forwarding

hopefully this will do it. too late tonight to try tho :-}

You also have manual port forwarding instructions here http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm
Manual port forwarding is generally the safest.
