Default All connection lost every time I do a search

Hello there guys, and thanks for any coming help, I have been using Limewire for a while now and hardly ever have had any troubles, but now things are becoming rather frustrating, lately, in the past i used to have only a modem 56k with AOL and things were going much more faster than it is now with my broadband BT Voyager 205 ASDL.

I sorted out the problem with the firewall so as with the static IP and everything seems to go all right I do get the turbo display and not firewall and apart from sometimes going rather slow my problem is that every time that i try to do a search i loose all the connections that I have it goes for turbo to nothing and it need to start new connections which seems to take forever, not only that but also if any download or upload goes at the moment it get lost, so as you can see it becomes rather frustrating.

Honestly i do not know what could it be the problem as i said i do not have any firewall, and I followed all the instructions from you guys, i have deleted my preference file twice though it seems to work at the beginning after a while when i do a new search, again, the problem appears.

Any suggestions? By the way I have a G5 Mac

Once more thanks for any coming help

Hi Hardbound

How does your Voyager 205 ASDL connect to your G5?

If it is through the USB port--that may be the problem. If it's through a router, try connecting the G5 directly to the Voyager 205 ASDL through the ethernet port.

It looks like the Voyager can't handle the many connections LW needs, so if that's the case, it's a job for the broadband folks.

Cheers

Hi Stief thanks mate! but actually I am connected through ethernet port, so i do not think that could be the problem.

Good--the ethernet port is now ruled out.

Time to configure the Voyager? Looks like there are filter settings shown at http://www.firewalling.com/btvoyager/205adsl.htm

Really fast mate thanks a lot! forgive me if i am bit thick but you are telling me that i should enable or disable my IP filtering? My firewalling is disable in BT voyager and i do not think i need MAC filtering since i am not wireless, though i do not understand if i should have my IP filtering to high level or off, or if i should change anything within the custom section, sorry though is a bit confusing, thanks once more I really appreciate your help

I'm not sure what settings you should use, but it looks like something in your Voyager is blocking multiple Gnutella connections.

Toggle a few, I guess, and see if that helps the original problem

And you're right about it being very confusing

Thanks mate but i am not sure what is it either if i have my IP filtering to high then it wont even connect to Gnutella, it would take forever in limbo, but once i turn it off then it will connect to turbo things seems to go all right but once i do any search i loose the connections and again it would try and try to connect back which seems to go on and on and it wont connect. It seems really weird and i am not sure if it is my Voyager or limewire, pretty frustrating because it not only affects me but for whoever that try to download any of my files, hope someone out there have the solution, please guys any suggestions? Thanks once more Stief

Well, it's probably not LW, because millions connect, search, and transfer all the time without the problem you describe.

I don't think it's your G5, or others would have reported the same.

Sadly, that leaves the Voyager (or the ISP?), and those are really hard to diagnose.

Have you asked your ISP what they think? Maybe you'll get a decent help desk person who won't just blow you off with some generic "it's not us it's you and your software" kind of comment.

If they would swap your Voyager, that would help rule out that maybe it's just a fluke.
