Default Limewire self-sabotaged?

Good afternoon friends. I have a very strange problem, that started out rather innocently. After utilizing Limewire for months, I suddenly had a Firewall appear and begin blocking my access to Limewire Networking. When attempting to remove this firewall, or otherwise allow for Gnutella to get through it, I made some adjustments to my Network connection. I thought I followed the directions I found in the "Limewire Help Section" properly, but apparently not. You see, not only do I still have a Firewall blocking my access, but now all of the characters, or text within the Limewire page itself (not my downloaded songs) that would normally appear in English, now appear in the following format:

θέλατε Εισάγετε μία διεύθυνση IP ενός φίλου σας, που θα θέλατε να συνδεθείτε, πατήστε «Άμεση σύνδεση», και το LimeWire θα προσπαθήσει να περιηγηθεί στα αρχεία αυτού του χρήστη.

Now, these are the directions I originally followed, which seems to have created the whole problem with the foreign language text/characters:

WINDOWS XP INTERNET CONNECTION FIREWALL:
Within LimeWire, go to: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewall Config
Make a note of the Listening Port located in the box next to "Listen on Port"
Go to Start -> Control Panel
Open Network Connections
Right Click on the connection you use to connect to the network
Choose Properties
Go to the Advanced Tab
If your Firewalled is Enabled go to step 10
If you want to enable Windows XP Firewall check the box (this will enable the "settings" button. If you are not interested in enabling your Windows XP Firewall, hit cancel -- LimeWire will not be affected, and you may stop following these instructions.
Under Windows Firewall Options, Go to the Advanced Tab.
Select Internet connection used. (Local area network or the name of your connection)
Click the Setting button
Click the "Add..." button
In the description field add "Gnutella"
Set the IP address to "127.0.0.1"
Check the TCP Radio button
Set the external and internal ports to the same port that you made a note of in step 2
Press OK
Repeat steps 13 to 16, except this time check the UDP radio button in step 16
Make sure the list of services has two items listed Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked.
Click OK

I apologize for the length of this post; I felt you should have as much information as possible in order to figure out if you could help me restore Limewire to normal service. Thank you in advance for any assistance, and for your time.

Chuck

Configuring your firewall shouldn't have had anything to do with the language changing. Read through the sticky at the top of this page, the first part "...check here first". Do the port test within that sticky & see what result you get. Firewall probs can be caused by internal firewalls within modems/routers, there's a lot of info within the sticky. If you don't have any joy, post your details

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW
