Default My limewire won't connect, and I've tried almost anything.

I have Norton Internet Security and the limewire is set to Permit All. I don't have windows firewall, or anything. Any ideas as to what else could be wrong?

plus, there's a brick wall in front of the globe but it's always been there and I used to be able to connect. All it has is one bar out of the five. So, yeah, can anyone help?

Exclamation It's possible your firewall is blocking your connection to LimeWire

I actually had to manually configure my Norton's Personal Firewall to allow it to let LimeWire connect. If you're using a firewall, you might try configuring it manually to allow LimeWire to connect. If you have a different firewall other than Norton's, I am not sure how to confirgure it.

To configure Norton's to allow LimeWire:

1. Double-Click the firewall systemtray icon. If it's not there, load Norton's Personal Firewall through your Start menu, then in the Programs list.
2. In the System Status window, click Personal Firewall
3. On the right-hand side of the window is the option to Configure, click it. A new window will emerge, with tabs at the top of it.
4. Click the Program Control tab.
5. In the Manual Program Control section, look for C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe.
6. If it's in the list, skip ahead to No. 10.
7. If it's not in the list, click the Add button.
8. Double-click the LimeWire folder.
9. Double-click LimeWire.exe.
10. Select LimeWire in the list.
11. Click the Modify button at the bottom of the window.
12. Select Permit from the "What do you want to do?" drop-down list.
13. Click OK.
14. Click OK on the Norton Personal Firewall window.
15. Close any other Norton's Personal Firewal windows.
16. Close and reload LimeWire.

You should be able to connect to LimeWire now.

Exclamation Norton's Internet Secutity

Disable Norton's Internet Security altogether. You can get by with Norton's Personal Firewall. It's less of an annoyance. I found Norton's Internet Security to be more of an annoyance, than help. Just a thought.

ok, so I tried doing the first thing you said, and it still didn't work. so I tried disabling my internet security but it still wouldn't connect. The weird thing is, it will connect on my brothers account on the same computer, same settings and everything. It just refuses to connect on my account all of a sudden for some reason.

Exclamation I am not sure what else you can do.

It doesn't make any sense why one account would be able to log in and not the other unless there are special settings on your account that is not allowing outgoing or incoming connections. Ovbiously you can log in to this forum with no troubles, maybe try checking over your configuration in LimeWire to make sure you are allowing the best possible connection for your account. You might also try making a new account to see if it will work then. Other than that I don't know what else you can do. Sorry.

We will need a little more info please.

Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? (Eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (Eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your ISP provider? ( AOL/MSN/Comcast/Tiscal)
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

* Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

12. Do This test, Is the result True/False?
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...757#post103757 Is the result True/False

13. Do a speed test post the results here.

They are the same. If you were able to use Frostwire that tells me you did not have your firewall set up properly for LimeWire.
