Says I'm still behind firewall I've installed and reinstalled limewire and it's still telling me it's detecting a firewall. I've disabled the windows firewall, configured my norton firewall to allow limewire to access the internet. I've also configured my router (2Wire 1701HG) to allow limewire access and still it's saying I'm behind a firewall. However, it will still allow me to download sometimes and other times it will freeze up. Any ideas? |
What are your details? OS(Win XP etc) LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) Firewall you're using Modem/router brand & model ISP Connection type (DSL etc) Where you connect from (home, school etc) Are you sharing a connection with other computers Is this your first try with LW Do this port test & see what result you get http://www3.limewire.com:6346 Within LW, go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'. Is it true or false? |
OS(Win XP etc) - Win XP LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) - LW 4.10.9 and I just downloaded the new java based on a post here Firewall you're using - Norton Modem/router brand & model - 2Wire 1701HG ISP - ATT DSL Connection type (DSL etc) - DSL Where you connect from (home, school etc) - Home Are you sharing a connection with other computers - No Is this your first try with LW - Yes Do this port test & see what result you get http://www3.limewire.com:6346 - the test worked Within LW, go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'. Is it true or false? - false The strange thing is even though it's telling me that LW has detected a firewall. I'm still able to download. |
Is your XP firewall disabled? If yes, then the reason for the firewall warning must be your 2wire device. Make sure it has UPnP enabled if it has that ability. Or if you're keen, manually port forward it using instructions here http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm If you do that you won't have such problems anymore. Being not totally firewalled for LW means you'll be able to direct connect & get better results overall. ;) |
Yes my XP firewall is disabled and I also manually forwarded the port on the router. Could LW just say there is a firewall if there is not? I'm not having any issues downloading, yet anyway. |
If you manually port forwarded correctly with a static ip, XP firewall is definitely off, & you configured your Norton firewall according to "these" instructions Configuring Norton Internet Security, then the problem must lay with your isp. |
