Default Reduced Search Results

Ok, I have been reading through these posts for some days now, and I finally decided to register an account to get some help. Basically this is what has happened. Usually when I would search something simple as "50 Cent" it would come up with like 5000+ search results. Now when I search the same thing it comes up with a mere 150-200 results. This started happening over the past few weeks, and I can't seem to figure out why.

So what do I see/have?

- Brick Wall on the globe
- Using SMC7004awbr router
- Cable connection

I have tried using that portforward thing for my router, and it didn't help and it was hella confusing. So with the info that I have provided could anybody help me??? Thanks!

I have no idea whether the SMC has UPnP abilities. But it's always safest to manually port forward. Follow the directions here carefully http://www.portforward.com/english/r...R/Limewire.htm

Also, if you're using Windows XP then you should configure it to allow LW full access; Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) (Oh & if you have another firewall then decide between XP firewall & the other. Running 2 firewalls is not recommended. All firewall companies give that advice as it can result in less security as they clash.)

After these things, the brick wall should disappear.

I went through and checked my XP firewall, and it says that it is not enabled. I don't have any other firewall activated on my PC as far as I know. Is there a test that I could run, which would detect it?

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

If false then you have a firewall issue. Which is the same as the brick wall icon. But there's no telling what is causing it. The issue here is that your modem/router does have an internal NAT firewall. So either you enable UPnP on it if it has that ability or else, manually port forward. Once you do this I suspect the brick wall will disappear. But you'll need to re-open LW for the changes to take effect. Also, some modems you need to reboot to save changes. I don't know about your model. If yes, you'll probably see such a warning.

It was "true." I tried going through the tutorial for my modem but it is somewhat obscure towards the end. Still no luck...

The port you'd want to add (they show port 80) is port 6346.

That doesn't make sense that you'd get a "true" for incoming but still have a brick wall in front of the firewall icon. I'm guessing you misread the bug report.

Ok, so then could you once more outline the steps I should take. I will try to complete that portforward process once more, but I get stuck at the last step.

In both the private & public port add 6346. And for ip, just complete the last no. of your internal ip.

And "click Enter near the bottom of the screen to save your changes."

You will need to re-start LW for the changes to take effect. It does depend on device. Some devices require rebooting. Some require rebooting of both device & computer & some rebooting the computer. So if you don't get showed that option, it should be ok. If in doubt reboot the computer. If the whole process did't work, then it's most likely in the initial step of setting up a static ip which btw is the most important step.

What exactly is the static IP in my situation?
