Starts with turbo charged but then... Hi I use limewire pro 4.11. Everytime i start limewire it connects as turbo charged but after awhile it gets slow until poor connection so i can't stay on for a long time. I always need to restart it so it starts to download fast again. I wonder why it's happening. My internet connection is adsl 256k,no firewall,no service pack just win xp pro. Thanks. |

Can you give us a total description of your set up: 1. OS version? (Eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (Eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your ISP provider? ( AOL/MSN/Comcast/Tiscal) 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. 12. Do This test, Is the result True/False? http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml Is the result True/False 13. Do a speed test post the results here. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

But maybe your router has (that's just one possibility), though they haven't written anything about it in the product description. Does the small globe left down in the LW window show a brickwall?? Another possibility would be that your ISP shapes the bandwidth you're using (which is the case with mine and I'm in Thailand). A straight call to them could clear this (though it took me several calls until they admitted doing so). It just wonders me that you get a turbo charged connection and after a couple minutes it goes down to 'poor connection'. I guess you've read about deleting the " .limewire " folder when LW is complete closed?!? Windows: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire Since you haven't mentioned this one: Within LW, go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'received incoming this session'. Is it true or false? (which would be a sign that a firewall blocks you, though you do believe not to have one) If this test comes out to be false you can follow this link to see what to do next (I actually looked at those links included there and didn't find your router under those supporting UPnP): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...outer+firewall

Merhaba foolofthehill Sorry i wasn't at home for a couple of days so i couldn't get online and yes i have that little annoying brickwall I have another question now.Me and my friend want to connect each other but we couldn't probably because of that unknown firewall If i find a way to cancel that firewall can she connect me?She has a firewall too but she is not good at computers i don't think she can cancel her firewall Oh yes i have one more question We tried to find each other but we couldn't do that either.First i searched for a file that just a few people have then checked her ip in results but couldn't find it.She did the same thing too but she couldn't find me either and some people were downloading files which we put to share from us.I hope i make myself clear PS you really don't look like a fool Last edited by donny_darko; April 22nd, 2006 at 01:19 PM. |

I did that test and result is "false" What's the best way to direct connect because i don't think we can remove firewall.I couldn't find information about my router in that messages so i don't think i can find a way to remove firewall and i don't think she can do either You're good at these stuffs that's why i said that Thanks for your helps |
