Limewire Won't Open

Ok, about a week ago I purchased a D-link router so that i could us my new laptop. Ever since i installed the router on the main computer(which is running windows ME) LimeWire won't open. It runs the start up screen (loading user interface & HTML settings exc.) and then nothing happens. It just doesn't open. I've tried re-installing it about 8 times and i've re-installed Java twise. I don't have a firewall on this computer and before last week LimeWire was working fine. Never had a problem with it. It works fine on my laptop so i can't figure out why it won't work on the main computer.

I am completly out of idea's and could really use some help.

Thanks a lot.

Try LOTR's fixes here

When you reinstalled Java, did you use the manual (offline) installation? So try deleting the preferences folder, reinstalling your Java etc etc (all the info's in the above thread):)

If you're going to reistall both Java & LW, install Java first.

yes, i've done both the Online and off line installations. LW still won't open. :(

Which D-Link router is it? D-Links have internal NAT firewalls. What you need to do is either enable UPnP on it or else, forward a port. See the UPnp section here & find DI-Link: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Oh I'm not sure Windows ME supports UPnP. Check the UPnP settings for XP listing at the top of the UPnP section. You may need an OS update. Check 3/4 down this page about UPnP for ME & Di-Link: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...s/homelan.html

It says its an "AirPlus Xtreme G Wirless Router

Ah you're using XP on a router set up on a computer using ME. I got confused. Do you have a model no. of that device. In any case, check the UPnP section suggestion above.

The Model # is DI-624

Ensure UPnP is enabled then. This will hopefully fix problems. Also I would guess UPnP is already enabled on your windows XP.

Ok, I'll give it a try.

Thanks a lot :)
