Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. Firewall, belkin I'm going to try to be specific. I recently bought a dell e1705 preconfigured with norton antivirus. I downloaded limewire and limewire has "full access" but for some reason is NOT connecting. I went and checked my network connections and up2p connections and they were UNCHECKED, but correcting this has made no difference. I am connected to a wireless network through a belkin wireless g router. I have NOT used limewire before. My downstairs computer is connected to this same network, but by a land line and connects to the ares network, and still works. I have not tried ares on this computer, because i get the feeling limewire is much better. Help. I wasn't able to find any instructions or even see if belkin supported up2p connections in the link "connection problems, check here first". also the test your connection link on that same page is apparently no longer viable. Also, windows firewall is disabled, as far as i can tell, mcafee is the only one running. Limewire claims a firewall is blocking it so i'm not sure what is going on. I also can't find any info about your router supporting UPnP. It does have a NAT firewall though & this usually means that manual port forwarding's needed. Again though I can't find any info on how to set up port forwarding for your router You might need to contact Belkin's tech support for instructions http://www.belkin.com/support/ Have you double checked your McAfee firewall settings? http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml If this port 6346 test doesn't work http://www3.limewire.com:6346 then it means something's blocking LW's default port. If your Norton AV includes the Internet Worm Protection, this can cause problems as seen here |

E-mail sent email sent, the link provided to check the firewall is the same one at the "try this first" and doesn't seem to work at all. Also, the zone alarm thing you mentioned does not seem to apply, the only firewall I have running is mcafee, unless zone alarm is some hidden windows default I have not even heard/seen it before. |

You said that your comp came with Norton & it was the Norton worm protection that can cause a problem (the person in that thread just happened to have ZA... ignore any reference to ZA!). It looks like the McAfee link's not working for some reason Try this one instead http://download.nai.com/products/man...593-0010-1.pdf |

well doesn't look like that is the problem. While tooling around on mcafee, i was looking at the personal firewall, and it says that an IP adress is trying to connect to my address every three minutes???? The only difference between this IP and mine is that the last digit is a 1 instead of a three so its pretty close, my other computer or something??? Mcafee has been rejecting this other address because it is a NETBIOS and could cause problems. This happens every three minutes regardless of Limewire running, should I allow this IP address??? I guess I'm wondering this because i would like to disconnect my firewall for 10 minutes or so to see if that changes things, but I don't want that thing jacking me if I do so. thanks for your continuing help. |

Sounds like it could be your other computer, there's some info on netbios here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netbios However I couldn't be 100% sure. I can ask someone else but I don't think he's online at the moment... might take a while to get an answer. |

i'll do that in the morning will it make a difference that my old computer is running on an actual ethernet line from the router to the computer and my laptop is going through a wireless connection?? Also, I don't know if this makes a difference, but my wireless networking card is an Intel PROSet/Wireless. |
