Options means your settings within tools > options (speed, bandwidth settings, upload slots etc etc).

If you've deleted everything LW on your computer, reinstall LW using the offline installer here (the best way to remove LW is start > all programs > right click on LW & choose the uninstall option).

What Java version are you using? It might be worth updating that too. Use the offline installer (JRE) here (install Java before you install LW)

Ok so maybe I should just erase EVERYTHING on my computer because now things are just not working properly. I did the disk cleanup and erased temp files and internet temp files. Nowwhen my computer comes on I get all these messages about chdk something. How do I erase everything and start over?

If things seem weird, maybe you didn't get rid of the original virus completely? If you go to Norbiesworld & register, then follow the instructions for free computer help, Norbie will be able to check out your computer & help you to fix any problems.

I don't know anything about reformatting. Try Norbiesworld & see what he says. If you download Hijackthis & post the log in the Viruses, Trojans & Spyware section of the forum then Norbie will have a look & get back to you

OK this STILL didn't work... I get the following message...

LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking LimeWire's access to the Internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow LimeWire access to the Internet and restart LimeWire.

Exclamation

My details

OS(Win XP etc) XP
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) Just updated Java and LW
Firewall you're using Windows
Modem/router brand & model dcm425c/ RCA (comcast supplied)
ISP Comcast
Connection type (DSL etc) cable
Where you connect from (home, school etc) home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers no
Is this your first try with LW no

Do this test & see what result you get
http://www3.limewire.com:6346 My test worked

Read through this for lots of info about firewall probs
Connection problems? Check here first! none of these worked

My problem is that when the Windows Firewall popped up a message asking if I wanted to let LW access the internet I pressed 'block all access' by mistake. I have had limewire for about two or so years now and never had a problem with it. I have even used it up until that day when I pressed the wrong selection. So I just need to undo that selection. Java worked just fine.

Sorry, I'll have to ask around for this one. I've never had a popup like that from my XP firewall at all I'm not sure whether resetting defaults in the
firewall will help. Just keep an eye on this thread! Have you had a look within the firewall settings & made sure that LW's in the exceptions?
Stay tuned.

Are you still getting the chdk message when you turn on the computer? If so, I think you should at least get a checkup from Norbiesworld (it's free & he's very good). There's a link in one of my earlier posts.

You might go to Windows firewall click on the "Exception" tab and tick (if there) LW to be an exception, or add it with "Add Program" and alos add the listening port with "Add Port".

KFurrow

Just switch your windows firewall off, I would post a jpg picture to show you how to do this if I was not at work using XP SP1.

However, if you accidentally switched on the windows firewall then went on to configure it, again accidentally, therefore the easiest thing to do is switch the (silly) thing off.
