Default Ive tried everything but it wont go away.

okay ive been to too many forums & read others answers. But when i go to norton internet security, and then go to configure the personal firewall because i know thats where i can fix this & the firewall will alow limewire to connect. But it tells me that, "you do not have the necessary rights to configure all the features of the selected item." It wont let me do anything, not even to add limewire and permit all. If only i could get that far. I disabled the firewall but it still wont work. Im so mad, ive been trying to get this to work. PLEASE HELP.

Guess you have be logged in as Administrator to make changes to you Norton settings.
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=30505
Do you also have the XP built-in firewall running? I wouldn't recommened doing so. One firewall is enough.
If necessary you might have to uninstall Norton and see if the problem gets solved due to it....

no i dont have the built in one running...i went to control panel, security center, then windows firewall, and turned it off. okay i tried to uninstall norton but it says....a norton security account with supervisor access must be logged in to uninstall this product. If norton security is not running, click the start meny, select nis, and log in.

And if this doesn't work, use the removal tool of Norton:

FOTH

It looks like Ari1861 does not have the necessary rights to amend his (or more likely his parents) NIS configuration.

He said:

which makes me suspect that the NIS is not his to configure.

Guess he/she forgot to mention that......
Though I'm teaching kids, I seem to forget sometimes how nasty they can be....
Thanks for the hint......
