![]() Recently when I'm connected to limewire for about an hour or so an error pops up every second and it says... "Limewire is unable to connect to hosts on the Gnutella network. This is most often due to firewalls or content-filtering software blocking access to Gnutella (port 6346). Please review your firewalls options to allow Limewire to access teh Gnutella network or speak to your system administrator or ISP to determine if Gnutella traffic is being filtered," and unless I'm at the computer to constantly close the error box every second or restart limewire from scratch, all the errors will pile up and freeze my computer and also force me to lose all my current downloads. I've tried everything that I know of including downloading the newest versions of Limewire, speaking to my internet service provider, and asking Limewire directly however all have not helped me. I'm not sure if this same problem is posted elsewhere in these forums, it probably is, but I can't find it and I'd really appreciate it if somebody could please help me fix this problem! |

![]() Hmm, I assume you see a small brickwall in front of the globe in the left bottom corner of the LW window. That measn LW is blocked by a firewall (could be the XP built-in one if your OS is XP, a firewall in your router - if you use one, or any other firewall which comes with a security software such as Norton Security - if you have one installed) To get rid of it, and consequently rid of the pop ups you'll have to read here and follow the suggestions made: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=51361 The fact that your pc freezes after receiving several pop ups could be related to a low RAM........though that's just a guess. ![]()

![]() Yes, there is: Can you give us a total description of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? 13. What graphic card do you use? ![]()

![]() Sure, 1. My OS is Windows XP 2. I have the XP installed firewall 3. 512 MB Ram 4. 160GB Hard Disk space plus another 160GB external Hard Drive 5. Dialup Connection 6. Sorry I have no idea about my modem 7. I connect from my home 8. I have 4.10.9 PRO Limewire and 1.5.0_04 JAVA 9. I use AOL 9.0 Optimized SE 10. I am not currently sharing connection with other computers 11. I have had Limewire for over a year now and this problem has just started rather recently and seemingly out of nowhere 12. I followed the link and it was a blank page with "Your Test Worked" in the upper right corner. 13. My graphic card I'm not sure about...that might be my NVIDIA GEFORCE MX graphics? I really appreciate your help and assistance with my problem and I'm really hoping it will get resolved. Another question though, are there any other reports of this problem? Just wondering. |

![]() Okay, since you're using an older version of Java (the newest is 1.5.0_07), I'd reckon first to uninstall your Java, download the newest version (use the JRE offline installer) and install that. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp Since you do not know about your modem/ router or whatever you use, where do you plug in the jack of the phoneline?? At the back of your computer or is there some box outside the computer? Do you have any AOL security software installed ( or any other Antivirus/ AntiSpyware program)?? An advice in regard to your graphic card, try to update the driver. Or try setting your graphic card settings back to default. Some had an issue with 3D settings for games. And others had an issue with graphic card driver updates that had problems. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=G-FORCE You're using the LW 4.10.9 Pro, are you still in the 6 month period for free updates or have 6 months already passed since you bought LW. I assume you bought it from the official LW website?!? http://www.limewire.com/ As for the question where the firewall comes from: The AOL® Safety and Security Center helps protect you with the most comprehensive set of safety tools, all located in one place and included with AOL at no extra charge. Best of all, we keep them updated so you don't have to. The AOL Safety and Security Center helps make staying protected online just about effortless. It includes: * Automatic protection from known phishing sites when you sign on with your screen name to the AOL® service or the AOL® Explorer browser * New and improved spyware protection, more powerful and faster than ever * Always-on, always up-to-date virus protection that guards your whole computer, not just e-mail * A security barrier between your computer and the Internet with AOL® Firewall http://daol.aol.com/safetycenter ![]()
