From Bad To Worse!

What started as a firewall problem has escalated to a connection problem. I have LW Pro, but now I can only get green bars instead of blue turbo bars in the connection window. I have been a loyal customer of LW, buying my upgrades when they weren't provided gratis but now I have about had it with their support system and am on the verge of junking the program in favor of MP3 Extreme or some other program. I really do not want to do that. Iwould prefer some reliable input on SOLVING my dilemma. PLEASE HELP!

Once again, here we go.

My internet provider is roadrunner, and they have never in the past interfered with the perfomance of my LW connection. This problem JUST started about a week ago.

Dell 4600 P4 3.06 GHz
Win. XP 2000 Home
1024 MR DDR SDRAM @ 333MHz
258 Memory
Firewall is config. for LW
Roadrunner is a cable connection

That's all the info I have. If you require any more I am in serious trouble...lol.

I am wondering if LimeWire is actually having the problem with so many people having problems all of a sudden.

Grandpa July 21st, 2006 03:12 PM

No LimeWire is not having a problem It still works the same as it always has for most of us remember there are around 3 million users so relatively the number of people having problems is low.

Zdevon

Although I am not familiar with your problem the one thing I do know is that more and more ISPs are using bandwidth shaping techniques to curb, if not kill, P2P traffic.

Usually, they do not tell you when and if they plan to curb P2P traffic, they just do it. And in most cases they don't even tell their help desk they have introduced P2P shaping/killing techniques.

So, rather than blame LW for your woes give a quick call to your ISP and find out for sure.

PS. If you check around this forum you will find others who have suddenly become victims of their ISPs secret (and not so secret) anti-P2P policy.

I called my ISP and they emphatically denied the use of P2P blocking or shaping. Meanwhile, the problem continues. I need some serious help here! My main problem lies in the fact that I don't have a whole lot of computer savvy. I HAVE to rely on the assistance of those who are in the know. So if you do indeed "grok" computerese, please help.

Have you made any other changes to your computer just prior to LimeWire quiting. Different Antivirus or spyware protection. Did you reset windows firewall or anything like that. Check your firewall and set up a new connection in it for LimeWire.

I already reconfigured my firewall, just in case. It's set up to allow LW. I think LW has been paid off by the music companies to start blocking select areas.

Grandpa July 29th, 2006 11:05 AM

LimeWire can not block any areas. What version are you using you may want to give the newest version a try if you are using an older version. The newest version is 4.12.4

zdevon July 29th, 2006 08:26 PM

My problem started when I downloaded 4.12.4. Now, everyone has questions but NO ONE has a solution. I've noticed quite a few others who share the same problem with their firewall. Coinsidence? I think not! If it's not intentional then it's ineptitude. So, which is it?
