For me, my LW stays at Starting Connection and does nothing. Here's my info: OS: XP LW & Java version: LW 4.14. & the newest Java update (just installed several days ago) Firewall you're using: Just the Windows one, and it is disabled. I do have Webroot Spy Sweeper, but I don't think that does anything. Modem/router brand & model: Linksys WRT54G ISP: SBC Yahoo! Connection type (DSL etc): DSL Where you connect from (home, school etc): home Are you sharing a connection with other computers: yes- I connect using a wireless connector thingy to the main computer in a room next door. Is this your first try with LW: no, I used to be able to use LW successfully-- but then for some reason, it stopped. I have done no configurations to the computer at all and LW doesn't work. |
eek! the Linksys WRT54G has firmware problems. Best bet is port forwarding. Even better is re-adjusting the firmware code yourself ... but you need to know what you're doing otherwise you may render the device inoperable. See the UPnP & port forwarding sections here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) |
i really dont understand this static ip address:confused thing, im pretty slow when it come to this stuff.i need a little help trying to figure out my static ip address |
Is this any help? Assigning your Computer a Static IP Address - Windows XP |
Problems downloading I just re-installed Windows XP, drivers and Java (latest). I didn't install any other software. I have a Belkin Router. I've had no problems with LW before re-installing XP, but now I can't seem to get any files downloaded. The program starts ok, no errors while installing/downloading/opening. I tried all the suggestions in the forum, including disable both firewalls (windows/router, even at the same time --> but the brick wall stays!). As said, I have no other programs as anti-virus. I'm clueless....!? Mr_Oy! |
Have you followed all the suggestions in this thread... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357 |
Again: Yes, I've tried everything! 1 --> test worked! 2 --> yes, tried this, also turned both firewalls off! 3 --> yes, in routersettings UPnP enabled 4 --> no such programs installed yet.... what now? Oy! |
1. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? 2. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? 3. (a) What brand & model of modem/router do you have? (b) What software firewalls do you have? |
1 --> I don't get a test! (I got anather forum) 2 --> yes (also if i turn both firewalls xp/router off!) 3 --> Belkin F5D7231 only Win XP firewall --> I haven't installed any software exept LW, XP and drivers yet! Oy! |

Sorry for any repeat questions 1. What's your connection like - do you have any green bars at all? Is there a brick wall in front of world ? 2. Do this test & see if it works. What does it say ? http://www3.limewire.com:6346 3. What are your details OS ? (Win XP, Mac OSX etc.) How much free harddiskspace ? How much RAM ? LW & Java version ? (In Limewire press Help>about LW & you'll see) What Firewall you're using ? Modem/router brand & model ? Are you using portforwarding, UPnP or nothing ? (Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config) What is your listening port ? (Same as above) ISP (Internet Service Provider) ? Connection type ? (Dial-Up, ADSL, DSL etc) + Speed Up/Down if you know Where you connect from (home, school etc) Are you sharing a connection with other computers Has Limewire ever worked for you ? If so how long have you been using it ? Have you tried using any other P2P apps & if so, do you have the same problems ? Also include any attempts to fix this. It helps people rule things out |
