My LW worked great and now all I get is "Connection Status Leaf" and brick wall in front of globe (comprable to previous threads) and no green bars to the left of it. Any idea why things won't connect?

I have already been through troubleshoot on FAQ and confirmed Gnutella settings and corresponding port but nothing.

Any wizards out there looking to drop some knowledge or insight?

thanks,
Gotafix?

Got your email but you have set it so that I cannot reply directly online.

Anyway, it seems that you are connected to the internet via an ISP, for which you must pay a monthly subscription fee. If you were still connected to the university network I would have said that they must have introduced a firewall of some sort. But since you say you have a USB modem, and to my knowledge these do not have built in firewalls, then you could have put some sort of software on your PC that LW sees as a firewall.

Back in the past, I remember a version of LW that started to see PeerGuardian as a firewall, so I suggest you check what other additions you have added to your PC lately.

Finally, and I must say sorry for this silly question I am about to ask but are you sure you have a USB modem and not a modem/router (which has a built-in firewall) that is connected to your PC via a yellow cable?

If you have a modem/router device then that would have the firewall that LW is sensing.

Thumbs up corprate or office router setups

This is for people wondering about what type of port forwarding to use on office or corprate router, there are three types port fowarding port triggering, externel port forwarding, upnp forwarding. If your confused well the answere is to use Upnp port forwarding on this type of setup. Every router might have these named slightly diffrent and may have few more options but Upnp port forwarding works best, even when not using Upnp setups. good luck!!!!

OS - Windows xp
LW & Java version - 4.12.6 & 1.5.0_06
Firewall you're using - How do you determine this?
Modem/router brand & model - Toshiba Cable Modem
ISP - ???
Connection type - Cable
Where you connect from -Home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers - NO
Is this your first try with LW - NO I have had previous versions over the last 3years

HELP ME PLEASE. I CAN CONNECT AND THEN NOTHING, THEN IT CONNECTS, THEN IT WILL SEARCH BUT WILL LITTLE RESULTS, THEN SEARCH SOMETHING ELSE AND GET NO RESULTS BECAUSE THE CONNECTION HAS FAILED THEN i GET FULL GREEN BARS(full connection) BUT STILL NO SEARCHING OR DOWNLOADING. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL START DOWNLOADING THEN 10 MINUTES LATER THE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. WHEN I SHUT IT DOWN IT IS WORSE WHEN I RESTART.
