What have you tried? Make sure you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly
Firewall setup

Have you been through all the advice here & checked out enabling UPnP or port forwarding if your router has an internal firewall (most do)?
Connection problems? Check here first!
Did you do the port test & did it work?

What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Unhappy

I've got the same problem... here's my specs and what I've tried to figure out..

OS: XP
LW & Java version: LW 4.14.4 ... and I also have FrostWire 4.10.9 Beta, and J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6.
Firewall you're using: as far as I know I only have 1 actual firewall - windows - and it is disabled. I have Peer Guardian, which I disabled, Webroot Spy Sweeper, which I exited, and an outdated version of McAfee Security Center-- which I exited just in case.
Modem/router brand & model: 2Wire HomePortal 1800HG
ISP: SBC Yahoo!
Connection type (DSL etc): DSL/Cable I think... >>;
Where you connect from (home, school etc): home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers: yes- I connect using a wireless connector thingy to the main computer in a room next door.
Is this your first try with LW: no, I used to be able to use LW successfully-- and then something happened to the Java and it wouldn't load, so I started using eDonkey, which worked OK (but not great) until recently when it wouldn't connect to anything so I fixed the Java problem and downloaded LW again only to find that it's not a problem with LW it's something else that's blocking me...

I am really fuzzy on what the hell uPnP is... I've read stuff tonight trying to understand and it's just giving me a headache... but I really don't care so long as I can get this working agian.

I've also tried going http://www.portforward.com/english/r...g/Limewire.htm <-- there, and had difficulty with adding LW to my OK list... it kept giving me an "unkown error" when I left the port range fields blank so I went back to LW to see what port numbers were defaulted in options and entered "6346" and "48403." It then successfully added LW and I did the same for Frostwire by typing out Frost Wire... anyway I don't have any idea what it was supposed to do but I did it and LW still detects a firewall.

Apparently it's a common problem... and I have tried to figure out what this person's talking about: http://www.frostwire.com/forum/viewt...light=firewall
to no avail, and I also read all of http://www.frostwire.com/forum/viewt...light=firewall .

I'm pretty much a fast learner... and I'm just hoping to God I just missed something silly and minor because I don't know what the hell is going on or why nothing I try is working. I had a friend tell me to kill any ability to upload to see if it's an ISP block and so I did that but still nothing. I've worked on it for like... 4 hours... please help! X_X

Here would be a link for your wireless; you might find the answers there:

Jadewyn,
You said that you "went back to LW to see what port numbers were defaulted in options and entered "6346" and "48403"... LW's listening port & connection port should be the same number. You should also have that same port number allowed within your software firewall. Just one port number.

Also, when you forward a port for FW, use a different port to the one you've forwarded for LW.
(the person in the FW thread's talking about enabling UPnP, I have no idea about that... I just went straight to port forwarding)

Sorry if I've read your post wrong & got you confused

Talking

Well... I've got the brick wall to disappear (YAY) but something is still not letting anything connect on Frostwire...

I wonder if it has to do with the step for the port forwarding that asks you to type "Limew1" and "Limew2" For FW would it just be "Frostw1" and "Frostw2?"

At any rate, I have successfully forwarded my LW port using Manual Port Forward: 41816. ^_^;

THANKS SO MUCH for your help. XD; I was pretty sure I was almsot there but somehow my lack of understanding just threw me off and I kept changing different things to try to get it to work... Sorry to confuse you.

You didn't specify the exact brand of your westell, so I just took a guess:
http://portforward.com/english/route...d/Limewire.htm
Try to portforward following the suggestions made at that website...

Jadewyn,
Yes, I just added a FW1 & FW2... exactly the same as for LW (but a different port number). I've got a different router but I think the same principle applies
See below for a screenshot of my router page!
