Please help, Can not connect

Ok I am new to this and just downloaded limewire 4.12.6. When I got to search it says thats it currently connecting to the network and that it may return less results until its fully connected. But it does not return ANy results. In the bottom left corner i have the 1 green bar and four red and there is the little firewall picture and when i hover over it it says it detects a firewall. I already did the thing where it said to go add it with w/e isp and this number it said to make note of. Now I am not very computer literate so can someone please explain to me in simple steps how to fix whatever is wrong?

First of all, make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall (remember that Win XP has it's own firewall) & that it's set up properly. Go to the link below for some good instructions for common firewalls
Firewall setup

Go to this site with your browser & see if it says "your test worked".

Post your details here,

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (in LW go to help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Ok, your ISP is your Internet Service Provider... who do you pay for your internet access?

If you're using dial up then you might not have an external modem. Are there any boxes (apart from speakers etc:D) that plug into your phone line or your computer?

Did you go through those firewall setup instructions & make sure that your XP firewall was configured properly?

Did you do the port test & did it work?

drinkH2O,
For starters you shouldn't jump into someone else's thread because that is a PITA for everyone.
Read the info in the sticky at the top of the Connection Problems page... "Connection problems, look here before posting".

TheAngel,
Go through the firewall setup carefully. Did you make sure to allow Gnutella ports for both TCP & UDP?
What version of Java are you using? Within LW go to help > about LW & it will tell you what Java you have.
If you're using SP2, there are patches you can get to increase the number of connections (I used the M$ one!)
