Limewire Connection Problems on OS X Tiger Alright, my friend is trying to use Limewire, but he is stuck with a constant one connection bar, and he can't use Limewire. It also gives us the firewall icon, but he doesn't have his firewall enabled, and he doesn't have any other programs that could do it. He has an iMac, an airport card in his iMac, and a Linksys BEFW11S4 Router (Version 3). We have tried most of the tutorials on this site, and none of them are working. If you need more information, or if you happen to know the answer, please post! Thanks. Edit: Oh, yeah, he's on Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.7. |

Similar problems here. Limewire is detecting a firewall, even though I've disabled Norton momentarily. It also does not detect an internet connection, which obviously I have(or else I couldn't post this note). This started about 2 days ago. I'm using WinXP. Is anyone aware of a Limewire problem that's cropped up this week? |

Well, I don't know if we have the same problem, since we have different OS's, but w/e. Also, I forgot to mention, I had an idea where I thought Limewire might've been crippled because they were sued, so we tried Frostwire, Acquisiton, etc. None of them worked. Does anyone have an idea to both mine and swami's problems? |

It's my friends, but I do use it a little. I'd say OS X is amazing! I am gonna get a Mac Pro when I get the money, but if I were you I'd wait just a little longer to get the iMac. Supposedly, the iMac is supposed to get Core 2 Duo very soon. Hope it helps! |

Swami should not be posting under an OSX topic. DustinS/mikevickrocks - airport card in his iMac, and a Linksys BEFW11S4 Router (Version 3) Well the airport card won't make any difference unless you're actually connecting via airport. Are you? Yes Airport has an internal NAT firewall. So does the Linksys. You will need to log into the Linksys & enable UPnP on it. That will hopefully make the firewall go away. If you're using Airport, I posted instructions on how to deal with it. See the UPnP section here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) swami: Make sure your XP firewall is disabled! Also check this about Norton FW: (a) Configuring Norton Internet Security, & also (b) Reconfiguring Norton Firewall Also check your modem/router type & make sure UPnP is enabled. Likewise see the UPnP section in the link I gave above. |

The links were all there about how to do it. Airport see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=52014 Linksys see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...sBEFW11S4.mspx Well http://192.168.1.1 is the default. You could try http://www.192.168.1.1 I guess. Or try http://192.168.1.5 or http://192.168.1.225 Did you get a manual with your Linksys? Inside that it will explain how to log into your Linksys. This is a technique for something else but is for Mac OSX http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...i=&p_topview=1 But you will need to search the tabs for UPnP to enable it. Ignore the network instructions in that link. That's for something else. ie: compare it to the Win XP instructions for where to find the UPnP option. |
